So, Lance planted the seed with the media that he's making some big announcement at the Tour of Georgia this year (april 19-24). He then fed the fire with some stuff like, "I miss my kids more and more while I'm in Europe, and..."
Today he voluntarily went to Tuscany to meet with some judge-type there. For those unaware of the cycling politik, Lance was essentially warned that if he went to Italy that he'd be detained. This is over a squabble with an Italian rider that involves, doping, a former trainer of both, allegations of this and that, and a battle with each other through the press...
Anyway, Lance chased this guy down at the Tour de France while Lance was comfortably in the yellow jersey and this guy was something like two hours down on GC. This guy claimed that Lance was threatening and unsporting and stuff. Really kinda silly, but some judge took it serious enough to start the inquiry.
Sooo...Lance went to Tuscany and talked with the judge.
Lance could have avoided Italy for the rest of his career, but for some reason, he wanted this cleared up. Perhaps he wants to do the Giro afterall. Perhaps that is going to be a part of his big announcement.
Hmmmm...?
An announcement to say that 2005 is his last year, but that he's doing the Giro and the Tour?
We'll know something in 18 days.
